Prep roundup: Auburn Riverside pitcher retires all 15 in fastpitch game

AUBURN — Amanda Fitzsimmons retired all 15 batters she faced in a five-inning perfect game as Auburn Riverside blanked Auburn Mountainview 10-0 in a South Puget Sound League 3A fastpitch softball game Friday. Fitzsimmons struck out five and went 4 for 4 with a triple. Mercedes Wetmore also went 4 for 4 with a double and triple for the Ravens.

RBI by sophomore shortstop Hannah Kiyohara in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Kiyohara RBI moved the Raiders into a tie for second place in the SPSL North with Kentwood and Kentridge. All three teams sit at 7-3 in the North. Kentlake leads the division with a perfect 10-0 record. Last week, Jefferson got a walk-off home run from Cassidy DeWaele to beat Kentridge in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Ramona Lorton turned in a terrific two-way performance to lead Centralia to a 4-0 win over Aberdeen Thursday at Fort Borst Park.The win keeps the Tigers tied with W.F. West atop the league standings with a 10-2 record (13-3 overall). Lorton worked all seven innings on the mound and tossed a three-hit shutout with no walks and 12 strikeouts. She also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a solo home run in the first inning and a pair of singles. Ramona’s healthy now and playing well,” said Tiger coach Ken Olson. The Tigers had 10 hits, led by Krista Church and Jordan Scherer with two hits each. Church had an RBI, and Kim Kerlee belted an RBI single. Haley Riner had a big defensive play in the seventh inning when she ran to deep right center field and made an over-the-shoulder catch to save at least one run.
It was also Senior Night for the Tigers, honoring Kerlee, Amanda Palmore and Church.
