Sophomore Taylor Smith (Sidewinder 18 Gold) slammed a sixth-inning home run that gave Timberline a three-run lead, and the Blazers barely held on to win. The Tigers scored twice and had the bases loaded in the seventh but failed to tie the game. "Smith brought an intensity that was contagious," said Blazers coach Ken Carey. "Our girls played with heart from the minute we stepped onto the field until the very last out." Each team had 10 hits in a game that featured only one scoreless inning. Stadium 8 vs. North Kitsap 7
The Vikings couldn’t finish off the Tigers in extra innings. North led 3-2 before Stadium’s Jordyn Kurtz (Sidewinder 16U) hit an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. The Vikings took a 7-3 lead in the ninth thanks to Josie Ball’s two-run single and a two-run double by Hannah McCluskey. But Stadium catcher Sarah Glennon won it with a two-run single in the ninth. NK coach Dan Kolda said the Vikings believed the game was over after they took a 7-3 lead in the ninth. "It was over before it was over," he said. "That was the biggest lesson they could take out of this. From here on out, it’s never over. There’s no team left out here playing this year that’s going to roll over no matter how far down they are." Stadium Pitcher Jordyn Kurtz picked up her 15th win.

Jordyn Kurtz and Sarah Glennon; Rachel Kramer and Melody Griffin. W — Kurtz. L — Kramer. Leading hitters — NK: Coreena Stout 2-4, Josie Ball (2RBI), Hannah McCluskey (2RBI), Griffin (RBI), Kramer (3b,RBI). S: Jessica Snyder (RBI), Kurtz (HR,RBI), Samantha Miller (2RBI), Glennon (3RBI,3b).
